Mar-a-Lago Face: Self Mutilation & Gender Affirming Care

This past Monday I ventured onto Threads and posted the following: "Susan Dell is the example of self mutilation that transphobes claim transgender and non-binary people are." I was NOT expecting the responses that I received. Many people agreed while some ignorant souls decided to throw transphobia around in the name of roasting a fascist. I've been holding this thought in for a while and yesterday was the perfect time to share it with others.

For the last few days, I've been watching the commentary on Susan Dell's looks. The co-founder and board chair of the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, has drawn the ire, mocking, and jeering of the general public after pledging to support President 47's "Trump Accounts" for kids. The mocking and jeering is justified. If you're a fascist, then you're going to be the butt of jokes for a lifetime to come. However, in the mocking and jeering I took note of her earlier appearance and her current appearance.

Much speculation and confirmation has flown about possible cosmetic procedures to achieve her brand of Mar-a-Lago Face. Looking at Susan Dell one would dare say she mutilated herself for whatever reason she chose. While it is her body and her choice, was it really a wise choice? Just because we make a choice doesn't mean that it was a wise or beneficial choice.

While looking at Susan Dells face, I recount all of the times I've heard transphobes and fascists like Susan, tell the transgender community are mutilating ourselves and that we're causing great harm. They even go as far to say that we'll regret it. Well I have news for the transphobes. We are NOT mutilating ourselves. We are becoming ourselves and saving our lives. There is too much proven data from scientists and medical professionals confirming that gender affirming care saves lives. Unfortunately, fascists like Susan only want her and her crew to have access.

I will repeat my thought again: "Susan Dell is the example of self mutilation that transphobes claim transgender and non-binary people are."

After much thought about Susan Dell and her alleged plastic surgeries, I thought about the jokes and rhetoric spewed at transgender people simply for existing and daring to access gender affirming care. Cisgender people like Susan access the same gender affirming care no matter how fabulous or blotched it may be! The difference between transgender people and people like Susan Dell, is that transgender people choose gender affirming care to affirm themselves while the Mar-a-Lago Face Coalition choose gender affirming care to force themselves into a system of patriarchy that abuses them and oppresses them just like it oppresses trans people.

Self-mutilation is defined as the intentional act of harming your body or body tissue. It is NOT synonymous with gender affirming are. Self-mutilation is self harm! Self harm comes in many forms. How does this relate to Susan Dell?

Susan Dell mutilated herself when she aligned herself with the patriarchy. Susan committed self harm when she allowed white supremacy's depraved beauty standards to influence her. Susan Dell harmed herself by voting against herself. She allowed fascism to mutilate her like Palpatine allowed the Dark Side to mutilate him.

The Alt-Right will never acknowledge how they affirm fascism with plastic surgery. They cannot see that Mar-A-Lago face is the mutilation they claim gender affirming care is for transgender people. It’s all about who has access. They can’t even see how their policies and ideologies will be their ultimate demise right along with the rest of humanity.
